On Fiona Apple and redundancy in general:


This new album is such a huge disppointment. I was sort of looking forward to it and have given it more than just a one-shot go but the verdict is in and I am completely underwhelmed. It is grating and monotonous over cliche'd and just a shit load of the same old same old that she's been singing about since she started her whine fest with the same exact piano accompaniment and chord changes. I mean I am all for a good whine fest but at least throw a curve ball in there to shake it up a little bit. Too many artists who have come to fruition in the past 10 years or so are so willing to simply ride on one formula that worked for them. There is such a lack of innovation anymore - everything sounds like everything before it. The absence of creativity and inspiration is daunting...well in the mainstream in any case. Of course all the brilliant artists aren't being recognized for their brilliance anyway. Meh.
