So i've decided working Saturdays really does suck. I feel so isolated. Plus i was a complete wreck from the work xmas party the night before. It was great to see workmates getting trashed, and Kudos to Laura the sales chick, who will never speak two words to you in the workplace, but put on some music, top up her drink occasionally and theres a fox waiting to come out tongue.
Sat night i waited nervously and impatiently to meet up with someone that i can't define. She's a friend, yet more. Yet, how can you call someone you've met once, 4 years ago mind you, a friend even? Well, the fun is in the mystery. There's no need for definitions. And as fate would have it, our meeting has been postponed. So off to Oatley pub it was to meet up with Croaker and my mates for his Bday. Was completely stuffed when i got there from 4 hours sleep and what not. Had a very metaphorical conversation with Bren about women, relationships and how to read signals. Mr Smith came up with the facinating conclusion that - 'Women are Jazz'
To elaborate, the right buttons need to be pressed, but hitting a wrong note still produces an interesting reaction. It's organised chaos, and we're not meant to understand it. I guess we just met up after an eventful week and found we'd both shared similar experiences and that really helped us to click that night. You see for the 15 odd years ive known Bren, our conversations have mainly been shittalking. But as we've grown up its been interesting to notice how things are changing. And im realising change need not be a bad thing at all. I noted to him after dropping him home that evening that i felt the presence of a big wave of energy rising and if we weren't prepared it would all come crashing down. It's off in the horizon sneaking up, but if we're ready it could leave some interesting changes in it's wake.
Ill skip most of Sundays details, because, well thats another story all together. One which im not happy to share at the moment. But after things cleared i headed to Cronulla beach with Balzan, Garfs, Dunham, Nat and Burton. Got fried like KFC, but it was so liberating to be in the water again. I missed it last year, (thankyou, cronulla residents, you racist wankers). The beach is great mediation and washes things from your mind, and you can just give in to the raw power of nature. After a decent relaxed chat and catch up i headed home to greet my parents friends who were getting wasted in the best xmas tradition. I scoffed a quick feed and met up with the boys again at Cronulla to see Casino Royale, for the second time! Equally as good. And holy fuck, i think i'm in love with Eva Green. shocked
So here i sit with an aching red back, enjoying the company of a Malibu and coke, and Paris, my ever stupid but faithful sidekick mutt. Thinking of getting my eyebrow peirced tommorow, finally! Oh, and my whole quip about fate re-entering my life? Could not be more meaningful than now. As i mentioned the F word to Bren last night, a msg came through to me on my phone that could prove either to be a new start. And funnily enough i was thinking about what it meant and 'Such Great Heights' came on the radio....
