When I left the house yesterday, I felt oddly drunk/hungover. It was nice. I didn't put anything in my body the day before, I was just dehydrated. Every once in a while I get loopy without any help.

I wandered around town for a while. The air was crisp, with a hint of October. My mind was almost empty. Well, for me it was a siginificant improvement. I found a cool little coffee place about a block from my house, but I have to walk all the way the wrong way around the block to get to it. I guess it's a secret.

When I got back home, I began digging through my 16mm films for some reason. I found a roll of credits for the final project of my first film class. I was so nice to drape the film over the back of my neck. There's nothing like editing on a flatbed. Film hanging off me, tacked up on all of the walls in the room, over the bin, 1/4 in tape labeling everything in tiny print.
I time all my films by length. 1ft is 40 frames. 24 frames is a sec. If you asked me for three seconds of film, I could unwind it and cut it without even counting. It's a wonderful thing to see an image repeating, changing only so subtly, becoming completely different from how it began life, but always barely distinguishable from its neighbor.

The point, though, is that I still have an unexposed roll of 16mm Plus-X reversal (slide film). So I made the box from my 100' roll of credits into a pinhole camera for 16mm.

What to shoot? I set the camera up next to my t.v. and set down to watch Blade Runner, which happened to be playing. 57 minutes. I took a picture of myself for 57 minutes. unfortunately, this is when the world decided to return, I got three phone calls and a visitor. I'd like to try it again sometime, though.

In all, an excellent day. surreal
