Two jobs managing in food services and now I'm a bussperson at Chili's. It sucks, but it pays the billls. Ah well.

Moving on, Venla's new set led me to beginning to read The Second Sex. I'm halfway through the introduction and already feel both like an asshole and like there's something I should be doing about this. Even though the book was written in a different era with different norms, the truth is completely correct. Women are often defined not in their particular abilities or traits, but rather in their weaknesses and flaws as compared to men. Emotional, frail, less rational, so on and so forth. It's a somewhat depressing state of affairs, but more often than not true. I'm not sure that I myself fully define women in this sense, but I've certainly done so in specific situations before and realizing this feel ignorant. I find myself very pleased that places such as SuicideGirls exist that do allow women to express themselves as themselves and in all honestly be drooled over by people of both sexes not in a subjugating sense, but rather as the "Lords" (yay patriarchy smile ) of the site. Despite the often heard calls that women being displayed as sexual beings, naked, or in any suggestive pose is degrading to women, I'm one that believes that it's often empowering and allows women to take the reigns in their own regard. Interesting stuff.

Both sexes have their fatal flaws, this's true. It'd be sheer ignorance not to notice this. Women do have traits, both good and bad, that define them as women. This's the same for men though. So, with the full assumption that no one will likely be reading this and just using it as a medium to organize my thoughts, I'm coming back to a belief of mine that differences should be fully adknowledged, be they racial, sexual, by age, or in any other category. There are and will always be (knock on wood) differences between different groups of people and this should be not only noticed but embraced. At no point should anything other than ability become a crieterion to discriminate in regards to though.

Done ranting.
