i met this kid last nite, had to be about 20 or so, he was completely fucked up, a full on junkie...anyway, I was walking out of the 7-11 and he approached me in a bike, I never get jumpy when they get close but he came out of nowhere and fucking startled me, so yeah, he asks If I could get him some food, I told him I just got what I needed but I would give him the cash and he could go get it. He froze up and said "you really want to do that?!!" I replied, "sure...yes". I guess he expected a dollar bill or loose change, when I gave him a 5$ he freaked, asking me for my name and saying that the next time he got into church he was lightin' a candle for me, even admitting that he had stolen the bike he rode in on!!
I was touched to say the least, he went in as I left but I could see him just standing there in disbelief and gratitude.

It killed me, he was so young and looked so bad, sick and looking closer to 50 than 20.
