Herakles' Children: Revolution's Shadow
"You were born under Haitian skies, your blood tied to this land — yet still, you are apart. When you were a child, the Oungan gathered, whispering as they marked you different. You cannot hear the Loa. You cannot feel their presence. The spirits that guide your people pass you by — as if you do not belong.
And yet, you fight. Not because the Loa call you. Not because you were chosen. But because it's right.
The French Empire marches to crush Haiti beneath its boots — to drown rebellion in blood and fire. Men and women have risen against them — warriors, mystics, and freed laborers armed with whatever they can find. The Loa guide them... but they will not guide you. So you rely on what you do have — strength born from bloodline, courage carved from hardship, and the will to stand when others fall.
You are one of Herakles' Children — stronger than most, harder to kill, and feared by those who know what you are. The revolution tolerates you, but you are not trusted. Some whisper you are cursed. Others believe you will betray them in the end. Perhaps they’re right — some of your kin already fight for the French, bribed with gold, promises of safety, or a chance to silence their conscience.
But no promises can break you. Not yet. You know that freedom is something earned — not given.
What you do not know is this: the more you stand for this land, the more it will claim you. The spirits are watching. The Loa are waiting. And if you fight hard enough, long enough... you may become something else entirely. No longer Herakles' kin — but something far more powerful.
The Beloved of the Loa.
You cannot hear the spirits now — but soon enough, they will know your name.
