Some thoughts on a March Evening

I find it disturbing that the people who are complaining about the "canceling" of Dr. Seuss, The Muppets, and Mr. PotatoHead (not happening at all by the way) are more than happy to try to cancel Lil Nas X's sneakers (which sold out instantly so too late anyway).
I'm tired.
I want people to have healthcare.
I want voter suppression to stop.
I want Police to be held accountable for their actions.
I want science to be treated like it's science.
I want there to be equality of opportunity (which by the way is best measured by equality of outcome when dealing with sufficiently large sample sizes so don't let someone pretending to understand statistics tell you differently)
I want no one in the US to be homeless or go hungry.
The things that I would like are completely doable, are Constitutional, and are exactly what large corporations and 1% don't ant which is why the people elected by Republicans oppose all of these things (Some Democrats also oppose some if not all of these things and they need to go as well)
I'd like people to voluntarily wear masks and get vaccinated.
I'd like people not to be racist and to acknowledge the systemic racism in our culture.
I'd like people to be nicer to each other.
I'd like people to behave so that it's easier to be nicer to them.
I'd like people to recognize facts and disregard blatant lies, to be reasonable.
I'd like Christians to actually follow the teachings of Christ.
I'd like to be able to sleep.
I don't think that these are unreasonable desires.

Reading this has been the highlight of my day. You're such a great guy, which is a nicer way of saying that I agree with everything you said. How we're ever going to decide which of us more awesome, I have no idea, but we can leave that at least until the weekend. Anyway, it seems to me that most of these things are a result of inherited instinctual behaviors and responses which means that they will only be changed through education or information if you will, but teaching everyone about inherited behaviors is no small challenge considering that NA has been moving in very much the opposite direction. The previous USA election showed the result all too starkly. Those 1 percenters are really not thinking clearly since they believe that a societal and environmental collapse will leave them unscathed. It's important to recognize that the world has never changed except that the gadgets and weapons are better, thus we need to accept that reality and try to be happy so that we remain vigilant for opportunities to make a change for the better. Sinking into despair helps no one. I know it's a challenge but identifying it is a first step. Be well.

@jozsef  I waited til the weekend and I'm pretty sure you're more awesome since I'm pretty much a broken human being struggling to keep afloat. You're correct that education is the silver bullet but we need to figure out how to shoot it.
