One year ago I was sitting in the hospital not knowing if my wife and unborn child would make it through the day. My wife's blood pressure was through the roof, she had swollen all over, could barely stay conscious. She began to have seizures and there was nothing I could do. As time drew closer my nerves began to break and it was hard not to freak. Then it was time. Emergency c section...8 weeks early. I remember sitting there with my head against my wife's while seconds ticked by like years. A room full of doctors. It was quiet. Then all of a sudden I heard it. Our baby was here. She was 3 pounds 5 ounces. During the next 2 months we watched as she dropped to 2 pounds 15 ounces. Watched here covered in wires with a feeding tube down her nose. Watched her as she lie still inside the incubator. Then her weight began to increase. She started wiggling more and more. Eventually she started feeding from the bottle. We finally got to actually hold her. The days passed and each day got better and better. Then one day they told us she was ready. We packed up and headed home. Today she turns one and I couldn't be happier. She has grown so much. I am so proud.
