First Impressions and People as shoes:
So here is my latest on relationships. As I continue my venture into the life of a single man, I have come to think that we tend to try people on like shoes. We try them on once, and if we don't think they fit... we don't buy them. I think this first impression is the death of many long term relationships, either for love or friendship. We become so intent on what we are looking for that we don't truly see the person that we have in front of us. I am guilty of this speed dating ritual as well. I have since started to pursue the friendships that can come from various dating encounters. I recently went out with someone i did not get a dating vibe from and found a friend. It may turn out to be more, but at the very least i have someone to spend my time with. There is no reason for this journal except to put my thoughts down and try to understand.

i think you're right...not all great affairs start out with a burning attraction--i think sometimes they start out lukewarm and grow hotter.
