I'm a little bit frustrated.

I really do appreciate everyone and everything since my dad died. Life is basically back to the normal routine.

Certain things pertaining to it just get me though. I don't know if this is an everyone thing, or a Jewish thing, but we listed 3 charities my dad would support (Well 2 he would support, and 1 that supports the disease he died from) for people to make donations. some do, some don't, whatever they want. Like I said, this is a common Jewish thing, I don't know if it's common to anyone else.

One was our Shul (Temple) Like a church they thrive off donation and support from members. Unlike the church they don't have millions and every temple is on their own. My father loved our temple.

The second is a non profit group that sends about 50 teenagers form my area to israel for the summer every year. For free. My brother and I both went on this program costing my family nothing.

The third is the ALS Association, because my father died of ALS

Here's the meat of my frustrations:

People have been donating to other places. I'm ok with that. Most are good choices, places my father supported himself, and would appreciate others supporting. Places that would be on the list, except we dind't want the list to be of 30 different places to donate. Keep it simple.

It's just, the people that donate to these other places are the other places. It feels very self serving. The President on the board of my high school made a donation to my high school. I did not recieve the notice for this. My mother got a notice for this. My mother who was divorced from my father got a letter letting her know that someone donated money (to themselves really) to a school she never attented.

I understand. I do. But it still feels self serving. I don't know the president of the school. In fact, it's not the same president it was 7 years ago when I graduated. It's very kind he would even donate for me at all. It all still felt a bit off

Similar things have been happening, this is just the one that happened today that prompted me to write.

That's all.

megze:
It's nice that people are donating to something, but it'd be better to not donate it to yourself. At my aunt's funeral a lady said "I'm not donating to the humane society (her charity of choice) because I'm allergic to animals. I'll just keep my money." Who does that? Ugh! People are jerks.
