AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A power outage a few weeks ago corrupted some files on my primary hard drive. Well, a lot of files. Anyway, I reinstalled the necessary stuff, and didn't really notice any problems, except that DirectX was giving me errors on bootup. Considering that I restart my computer once ever 4 to 30 days, that didn't qualify as an issue to me. Well, last night, when the cable internet was down, I decided to try and fix it. Anyway, now win2k doesn't boot, and I can't get to a safe mode command prompt, etc. Blah.
What's that you say? Just install on that 20gb backup hard drive you have and copy over your critical files, problem solved? Well, it's not quite that easy. My primary 60gb drive was running as a single-drive raid setup...please don't ask me questions about it, it was started as a joke, and then I just kept using it. Anyway, I've modded my bios/drivers to the point that I don't know where to find the correct drivers for my onboard raid...except that I know they're on the drive, that I can't get to!
Yeah. So it's gone.
Thankfully, though, I'm prepared for situations like this, and randomly make backups of my win2k profile, my super secret text file with all my phone numbers and personal shit, and various programs that I would rather not lose (just not those fucking drivers, HELLO DUMBASS!).
Oh, and I got to keep my ip! I wasn't down long enough for the dhcp to release it, so now I don't have to edit my dns settings, change the remote access info on my work firewall to let a new ip in, etc etc etc.
*sigh*
Is Monday over with yet?

I got to do tech support today too. My mom and bro finally gave up aol, so I had to make new addresses for them, since they can't do that themselves. Actually, I didn't do my brother's address, I just guided him step-by-step through getting a hotmail address. When someone is asking me for tech support, you know they are really computer clueless.
