This morning when I opened my refrigerator, I laughed out loud. The noise startled me. It could be that in the silence of 4:30 a.m....laughter appears ironic and massively out of place. It could be the fact the the instant the sound came out of my mouth, I couldn't remember the last time I heard it...but more likely than not...it was the source of this spontaneous display of happiness....I'll keep my secret and self respect in tact.
Yesterday I slept more than I was awake. This phase of the treatment appears to be taking it's toll. It means it's working...that's what I'm telling myself. I'm living life paced by a Norah Jones song...and my spirit has been beaten into submission. The voice of reason speaks in a familiar sound..."...this is temporary" and for some reason, I believe it. It's the head of the beast of eternal optimism trying to stretch itself out of hibernation....'not quite yet, my lovely.'
