This morning, my phone rang at 12:05...I didn't bother turning on the light to see the caller ID, I just answered. It was my cousin Bridgitte, and my act of answering the phone prompted her into a medley of birthday songs...to herself. Seriously, this went on for like a few minutes....and just when I thought she was done, she would start back up...I ended up laughing and laughing at my little friend so excited to finally reach that milestone of 16...

Sweet 16, she's the youngest of us 4-some of cousins...and obviously very excited about a day that's ALL her. I LOVE that about her. She also left me a text message and a voice mail on my cell reminding me over and over it was her birthday...I see so much of myself in her...I think that's why I dig her so much. So, I'll let the munchkin (a nickname we gave her and Jesse when they were babies...and now at 18 and 16, stands strong)...sleep in until noon today, then I'll start calling her every hour, singing Happy Birthday to her. She rocks...

I'm very VERY fortunate to have my three cousins. We've grown up as siblings, so there's not much that goes on in our lives that the others don't involve themselves in. I will never take for granted the love that exists between the 4 of us. Like I said, I'm very lucky.

Speaking of cousins...Sam...the oldest of us, is coming up today to hang with me this weekend. I have been looking forward to this for days now...he's a good dude, and puts my life into perspective for me when I need my ass kicked. And, there's a safety that I feel when I'm around him. Something I crave right now...someone to say, "it will be okay..." and I know they have my absolute best interest at heart. We're going out to see a band tonight at the lake, and just relax and hopefully listen to some good music.
