There's no place like home...
Hey, kids! How happy am I to be back home? VERY! Don't get me wrong, I had a great GREAT vacation, but I'm ready to return to the land of the living, and my job. I did miss it. I missed my listeners...they are very very good to me, and I need to keep remembering that and quit taking it for granted.
Had three messages on my voicemail when I got home, and one was from my Marine, Matt. I can't believe he called twice in the last week, from Iraq. I feel like SHIT for not giving him my cell phone number, I never dreamed he would call though. I need some ideas, friends, with stuff to send to him. My care packages are very impractical for the environment in which he's in, and I would like to be a little better this time around. So, if you have any tips, please, pass them along. I want to send this out on Tuesday, so maybe he'll get it by July.
My drive home was wonderful...I was surrounded by big fluffy clouds that I swear were making shapes of "Finding Nemo" characters...Aside from a few tense moments, when I realized I passed a cop doing 75, it was a sweet drive. Beautiful day, NASCAR day...heading home...can't go wrong. The time alone did me some good. I have been questioning mortality lately and it seems with every answer there are more questions that arise. And the surreal surroundings and killer tunes blaring through the car...I had several revelations. It was beautiful. This could be just because I finally got some sleep last night.
I have lots more to say...but it's time to get started on the Jumbalia...come on over for dinner...
