Last night I came to an eerie realization. I am old. My goodness.
Stacey and I headed out for a night of girl fun at a club in the next town. It's the typical night club scene, black lights, huge dance floor, 3 DJ's...blaring music that I had never heard of before. We settled into seats to check it out before going out to play. I told her as soon as I heard a song I some-what knew, we would go dance...well that wasn't happening with this techno-mind numbing music blasting out of the speakers. I sat there, longing for the days of listening to a great band, with some friends and some beer. I felt old.
We tried to drink ourselves into the mood to enjoy our surroundings. There were nothing but children all around us, once again, something to make us feel old. It just wasn't happening. So, by 10, we're headed back home.
At a bar here in town, there was a local band playing and we decided to stop by there. I was a little leery about the environment, the job I have is based on public appearance, and I had to be careful displaying my relationship with anyone, let alone a girl.
We ended up having a hell of a time, sitting and drinking to this band that played the best cover tunes I had heard in a long time. We danced, with nothing but girls out on the dancefloor...(someday I'll understand why most boys don't like to dance...) and ended up closing the bar.
It was after 3 when we got home and after 5 before I got to sleep...
and the alarm at 6:30 this morning was a fucking joke, which wasn't funny, by the way.
Today, I miss summer...I'm not complaining, just observing...I miss the conversations that only make sense around the confines of a bomb-fire. What do you miss most about summer? I can't wait to lay in the freshly cut grass and make objects out of the fluffy clouds that float by.

Thank you for the message on my machine. So cute the way you giggle.
I don't think you have to worry about scaring Jeff away, he doesn't frighten easily. He's probably just VERY busy, considering the current affairs around the world....
You're not "old", you're "seasoned".
Cheers.
