I just watched Cry Freedom, which is about Steven BIKO.
Watching the film invigorated me for a similar kind of struggle that is going on right now in Palestine. It is a true shame, a historical sadness, that the Palestinian movement for autonomy does not have the same kind of focus, organization and leadership of the South African anti-apartheid movement.
Nonetheless, I feel confident that a divestment campaign against Israel and against companies that sell arms to Israel, is the right thing to do right now. Afterall, why should American companies feel free to bankroll and arm a racist and violent occupation that violates countless international laws and is responsible for countless deaths.
After watching this film, and other films that make me sad about injustice, and after feelikng like shit this weekend because of the massive scale of the Babylon before us, I will make efforts this month to join in the fast-moving divestment campaign that is going on across the country.
I eagerly await reasons why I should not do this.

are you familiar with the conflict? or is this a new-found warpath inspired by the film? While it is an excellent film indeed, i fear we may disagree on the fastest course to solution...
