Hye you all! I want to start by thanking for being so nice to me. I just meet him thru his great wife, Polonovia, and he has been extremely friendly, so, a very big hug to him!!!!!
Quick stuff: I discovered very recently three new musical acts: Migala, The Faint and Voltaire (the singer/songwriter, not the very sexy SG!). I discovered the first act thru aa review in the music mag The Big Takeover. They were described as Tindersticks-like, and me, being a huge fan of that band had to check them out. An additional characteristic that made them appealing for me was the fact that they sing in spanish, them being from Spain, besides singing some songs in English, because there are not many good spanish-singing musical acts that reach the shores of my Island. I have to also add that they also have a very Dirty three-ish thing going for them, so, if anyone out there likes either the Dirty Three or Tindersticks they should definitely check them out.
The next act I discovered because they are in the same record label as Bright Eyes, and they are The Faint. They are not like the Connor Oberst band, instead they have a very 80s sound, primarily because of their heavy use of the synthetizer, similar to what the Killers do with the keyboard, but the Faint have a way-more-aggressive sound and urgency going on. I strongly recommend them if you are looking for great rocking band with a very happy sound (at least they have that effect with me)!!!
Voltaire is a goth cuban singer songwriter that has a great sense of humor and performs great songs inspired partly by the European folk tradition. He came to me thru the only radio show in Puerto Rico that plays contemporary music and is also GOOD, www.frecuenciasalternas.com, where they played lots of songs by him followed by a great interview in spanish. He seems like a very cool and friendly person, someone you would love to have for dinner and just talking with him all night. He is also a good comic book artist and storyteller. Recommended to people who like Bauhhaus without the seriousness.
I think this will be all for tonight, hopefully there will be more tomorrow, take care you all!!
