Good week or Semana Santa update:
I am in my other house on Vega Baja writing from my mom's laptop and where very busy working nonstop since last Friday, so that is why there where no updates.
Hopefully this week I will finish my second mix cd plus hopefully one or two more. I have not gotten my cd's yet from the first exchange but I am certain that by Saturday I will finally get them. (I CAN'T WAIT!!!)
I saw earlier this week "Super size me" and it made me think a lot. I am looking at obesity and the whole food culture from a different perspective, even if I knew that McDonald food is unhealthy and I have not eaten food by them in more than ten years. In fact, I used to work for them for a while, as a cook. Let me tell you, I hated my customers and I saw management order some cooks to serve the food before it was well cooked. So if you still eat at hamburger joints, STOP!
I finished reading "Middlesex" ealier this week and loved it. I loved all the characters, especially Desdemona and Calliope and I was so sad that Cal could not stay with her "Object", that was the saddest part of all the book, the second being Milton's death. I want to read Eugenides first book now, because it has be good also. I saw the movie that was inspired by the book ("The virgin suicides") and it is one of my favorites. I am curious about the possibility of "Middlesex" also becoming a movie.
Two albums I recommend are Falsa alarma's "La misiva" and Violadores del Verso's "Mierda". I am a very recent fan of them, as I got to know them thru the soulseek peer to peer exchange program. They are into the more serious oriented side of hip hop (like KRS ONE and others), but if you enjoy him you will also enjoy the albums mentioned.
Hopefully tonight I will watch two movies: "Zorba the greek" and also "Garden State" or "Napoleon Dynamite". Thank God for dvd's!!!!!
I am reading a book by Thomas Friedman named "From Beirut to Jerusalem" about his journey from the Arab world to Israel as a journalist working for the New York Times. It is an amazing read so far, and it should appeal everyone interested in both places and its contemporary history.
