This will be a long entry because I have not written a lot of stuff for the last two weeks, the reasons are that I have been working a lot and I have been tired, plus the mini vacation I had the next to last weekend were spend watching dvd's and hanging out with my family and my dear Inocencia smile
Congratulations to the Barsa club of Barcelona for reaching the finals!!! My dear friend Elga is currently there hanging out and working on her thesis, I miss her a lot!!!
A bunch of stuff that has happened to me or is currently on my mind:
1. Life in my country right now is not good in a general sense. My goverment is very near bankruptcy and a bunch of people, a WHOLE lot, might be unemployed by next monday unless a solution to fix the budget deficit plus a way to pay the goverment's debt can be achieved. If there is no good answer to this huge problem by monday I fear that what happened to NYC on 1975, or what happened to Argentina not that long ago will happen to us too, and I am not very optimistic. Fuck the goverment, fuck the whole banking institutions mad
2. I want to read more Hemingway soon!!!!!!! He is on my mind again, for the first time in a while. I was very much into him during my first few years of college, when I was very interested in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) and his writings about the subject. I did not knew much about him until that time, and was instantly fascinated by his life story too, especially his time as an ambulance driver during the First World War and also his relationship with Latin America, especially with Cuba. While reading more of Gabriel Garcia Marquez journalistic articles and also the latest novel by the Cuban writer Leonardo Padura Fuentes about Hemingway's stay in Cuba I got the urge again for more Hemingway, so hopefully I will get into some of his books next week smile smile
3. I watched the "Capote" dvd on monday and I was very impressed with it. I usually try not to watch bio-pics, because they are usally uninteresting and predictables, very similar to those documentaries that the E channel regularly show, but "Capote" is not a bio-pic, instead it is a character study and an exploration of what it means to be a writer with a responsability to his subject matter, in this case the subject matter being two young southeners sentenced to the death penalty for the murder of a whole family. There are times when Capote is shown as a writer only interested in writing a bestseller and therefore achieving more fame and celebrity and also other instances where he cannot help but feel that the killers came from very similar backgrounds with awful experiences as children that can help explain some of their behaviour as adults. Also, Philipp Seymour Hoffman clearly deserved the Oscar and the rest of the artists involved in the making of the movie did an amazing job, this is one of the best movies of the last few years, superior to other recent well-received biographical flicks like "Ray", "Walk the line", etc.
4. I saw, during the days I had off last weekend many dvd's including "Rent" (good but not great), "Walk the line" (very good, and Reese Witherspoon was amazing, but Johnny Cash was bigger bad ass than the Joaquin Phoenix version of the Man in Black, oh and the music is fucking amazing), the latest Wallace and Grommit (very much awesome FUN! smile , "Crash" (I watched it for the second time and still loved it and was moved by it, and I still think the song naminated for the Oscar is better than the Three Six Mafia, althought I am glad that they won), a bunch of episodes from the first season of "The Muppets show" (tons of fun, a work of genious, as good as the best SNL can offer, one of the best sketch comedy ever, yeah!), "Pride and prejudice" (very pretty and funny, and Keira Nightly is to die for love ), "Bend it like Beckham"(again! a great movie, I love this one a lot, the acting, the music, the story, everything, very lovely actresses too love love ), etc. I know there were a lot of movies, but those are the ones I can recall from that weekend.
5. I watched last friday two movies: the "The Constant Gardener" dvd and went to the PLaza Las Americas cinema and watched "The Inside men" with my very dear Inocencia. Both movies are amazing, Clive Owen rules, Spike Lee did a great job, Fernando Meirelles is one of the top five directors right now ("City of God" is a masterpiece, one of those movies that comes along very rarely) and "The Constant Gardener" is one of the underrated movies of last year. That "... Gardener" did not got the atention of much of the public is a result of the big quantity of great movies that were released last year, a very good year for quality movies, if not for the evil bastards in Hollywood who are still sad that "Dukes of Hazard" and "Deuce Bigelow:european gigolo" where not big moneymakers.

I still have nit written about music, so I might write more tomorrow or during the weeknd, as I have a lot more to write, but whatever, have a great rest of the week you all, a big hug and kiss to all smile kiss
