Back from Hawaii.

photos part I
photos part II
and of course photos part III

Photos in the Hawaii Part III album contain images from the rest of the drive up the Pali Highway toward the North Shore. Likelike (pronounced LEE-kee LEE-kee) Highway was our original route up to the valley was closed from Friday to Monday, so we got lost and I took more scenic photos because it was my way of not panicking or snapping at my sister's annoying fiance. I took more and more images of Ka'a'awa Valley, where you might recognize the mountains from such films as Jurassic Park, Godzilla, and one of my new favorite TV shows, "LOST". Even though I know he'll never read this, I'd like to give a shout-out to my mom's friend Thor, who took the time to introduce us to his family and open up their backyard to Ka'a'awa Valley. I also took a few pics of the beach off Kamehameha Highway, with its clear waters and the softest sand that my toes ever had the pleasure of sifting through.

The koi pics were taken on Friday the 15th, at Waikiki Shopping Center. These are the ones I was telling you about, in the fountain that people keep throwing their coins into. neenuh and I dubbed these giant fish our friends, and vowed that we'd come back and see them every time we visit Oahu. Other images in this album include shots from Heeia State Park, overlooking the pretty blue and aqua ocean, some flowers, and the random chickens and their chicks walking about the parking lot. There were also these little plants that closed up when you touch them. I have a little video of my finger poking the leaves, which my grandmother called "shame shame" plants (when my mom and her siblings were younger). I might post it later, but it's hard to make out the details because my camera is so little and it pixelated everything.

There were some very annoying parts of the trip (there always are), but for the most part I had a great time. I have to remind myself next time, though, that there's not much to eat unless I want various forms of scary meats. I'm not a strict vegetarian, but I'd like to be able to eat something other than just rice, rolls, and fast food. frown Also, Mom gave each of us or own silver rings with our Hawaiian names on them, to remember the trip. If you didn't know it already, my name (and my mom's) in Hawaiian is "iokelina" (EE-yo-keh-lee-NUH).

It's nice to be back.
