Weekends are my favorite time to work. Trucking is always a lot easier, because it usually means just driving and not the annoying rigmarole of being loaded and unloaded every day. I set my own schedule. Sometimes I get an early start... sometimes I sleep in. And parking is always a lot easier to find. This weekend, I have a lazy trip. I got loaded...

I don't know exactly what the consequences of my accident will be, my fleet manager says I probably won't get fired over it.
I tend to be fixated on Coke because their drivers work four ten-hour days and that would seriously rock. but within a couple miles of my house there are several trucking companies. Sullivan, overnite, estes, van-pak,
AR, fedex, couple others. I just worry none of them will hire me with my accident record.
Couple of straight trucks here at the truck stop got me thinking, and you mentioned it before yourself, about having seen an ad to drive straight trucks for 1.25 a mile. owner op obviously. I wonder how that is, would you need down payment or anything.
Just now Werner was giving me shit about wanting to take a 34 hour reset as i only got back 6 hrs today and will only get 3.75 back tonight. My dispatcher felt it would be better for me to work today and tomorrow but I don't really get why he thinks so. whatever.

Miami this morning. I haven't made a Florida delivery in months, so I'm glad for the change of routine. Florida has a bit of a truck parking problem however, so making Miami deliveries requires a bit of forethought and strategy. The closest SAFE (stress the safe part) truck stop is about 120 miles north of Miami (in the Ft. Pierce / Port St. Lucie area)....

Had a really good weekend. And it was one of those rare times when I didn't feel like it was simply too short... as if I had to spend my entire time home just doing things to prepare for my next couple of weeks on the road. The only down-side to it all is that I've spent a ton of money in the last few...

Well, it's good that you're starting to exercise, but I daresay you've got some catching up to do if that was the most exercise you've gotten in years.
Werner seems to have this weird idea that loads should be passed from driver to driver like a baton in a relay race. It doesn't seem to make that much sense if the guy who picks it up has enough time to deliver by the due date by himself.
Did not have a smooth day. I thought my truck had brake problems and got myself stuck by not realizing that the trolley brake was patiall engaged. I haven't even seen a trolley brake since I was in school. Then i had to pick up trailer that the yard guy had left the landing gear a fucking foot high on. I cranked it down but not far enough and I hit the landing gear assembly with the tail end of the tractor and broke a mud flap off. And the fifth wheel went under the kingpin and i got stuck, and had to crank the trailer up again and deflate my suspension to get back out. Yeah I'm just so fucking smooth. You'd think I'd be at least a little smooth with seven months experience.

I don't really "get" MySpace.
Oh, I understand the whole social-networking shtick. But I really don't understand the collection of friends business. Who the fuck has 2845 friends? What is the point of trying to collect the most possible number of so-called friends when you have no idea who all but 10 of them actually are? (Or however many of your ACTUAL friends are also...

I like the collection of friends I've built up over time on SG; maybe it's kind of like a stamp collection that sends you messages.
Anyway, I got my truck today. An 05 KW w900 with 242k on it. On the grungy side for a werner truck but I got the lowest miles of the three of us who got trucks today. it needs a couple of things in the shop and doesn't have a permit book so I shan't be able to get out and about on it till monday at the earliest. I could have spent the next couple of nights on it i guess but I'm gonna play dumb and say i thought i was sposta go back to the motel. if they bill me for it what the fuck, at least I can get access to someplace to eat without risking driving the truck around with no registration papers.
I don't like the visibility with the stacks right behind the doors, the huge nose and smaller windows, but the truck does have style, albeit in an old beat up sort of way. no room between the seats to store my bike but I think i might be able to fit it in between the seats and bunk if i can finesse it over and between the seats. today i learned that some truckers who are very big guys have trouble squeezing between the seats to get back to the bunk. the KW t600 must not be a favorite rig of theirs.
Those fleets of new werner KWs you've seen are likely the ones with 2007 engines which aren't moving and not a penny has been paid for, since the engines have dying at 140k problem that wants resolving. I'm told they've bought up as many 06 engines as they can get to see them though till the new engines have their problems ironed out.
One better thing about werner is you can fuel anywhere in their network. should help with getting the free showers and keeping me less stinky. so now if i'm stinky it's only attributable to my antisocial nature. helps to keep the christians at a distance. hee hee. They are a little more controlling with regard where and when you can move the truck, but it should be manageable.
Well, I hope you're enjoying this fine day.

Well my brother is an asshole, so I don't think he is gonna be knockin up any ladies anytime soon. My moms knows this and that is why she is puttin the pressure on me!!
My cousin has twin girls and she moved to my hometown when they were born. I thought that was gonna be enough to tide her over. It was for a while. They are getting older so now the pressure is back on me!
I think I am just gonna borrow some of my friends kids the next time I go back to ohio to visit!

For some reason, when I hit the "Expand Blog with Comments" button it fails to show everything. Just cuts it off short. Annoying. Oh well...
A great many states now have laws that prohibit truck drivers from idling their trucks while parked.

I've noticed the same thing about the expand blog with comments key. If you hit little black text next to the date of the blog, indicating number of comments, that expands it out to see it. It's pretty stupid that you have to do that to begin with. I liked it better when you just clicked on someone's profile and got their whole blog.

If it's good enough for Han Solo, it's good enough for me. Or rather, it's good enough for me in October when I can actually afford it.

Jedi costumes are fun. I haven't worn one, but I can imagine it would rock. Now the King Richard Faire, is that like a Renaissance Faire? I've never been to either, though I've wanted to try Renaissance Faires (sorry about spelling).

I'm not a HUGE fan of LOTR, but I've heard that the landscape where they filmed it is beautiful, so I wouldn't mind going to see the place either. Not this time though, but maybe later.

There's a lot of talk about bridges lately, and their decrepit state. And speaking of states, MINE has the worst record of ALL, percentage wise. 53% of Rhode Island's bridges are in deplorable condition. Yeah, that makes me feel good. Perhaps if Mr. Bush wasn't wasting 500 billion dollars trying to play policeman to the world we might be able to take care of our...

Today was a pretty good day, as trucking goes. No pickup, no delivery. Just driving. I drove for 8 hours which is long enough to feel like I accomplished a good day's work, but not so long as to make me feel wiped out. So tonight I'm in Spiceland, Indiana which is about 45 minutes east of Indianapolis. I made the mistake of ordering a...

Yeah. Accordians kick ASS! I met this guy who used to play accordian in the subway. You'd think he was sketchy, but he was just beautiful and could he PLAY. It was awesome. EVerybody loved him, and he used to bring his talent to these all night parties and play and everyone would be dancing..... It was awesome.

Nope. Today I was up in CT and Mass and now I'm enjoying the tremendous girl watching to be had at the Haymarket Cafe in my hometown of northampton Mass. Couple of days ago I was out in Ohio and saw a billboard advertising for Pohl drivers and there was a Pohl truck at the pilot I overnighted at where I did my last blog. Didn't see anyone resembling you at the pilot and your blog placed you a couple hundred miles away.
Tonight I went trapshooting thinking I would meet up with my brother and see how he's getting on at coca cola but he and all of my other shooting relatives were absent, vexing.
Taking a couple days off.
Couple of days ago I was also thinking that I would rather have been Irish than polish, if you're going to be descended of an oppressed Catholic people be of one that has a halfway decent musical tradition. You never hear bad Celtic musicians. I too get jealous of motorcyclists, specially when I see one on the same bike as I have, which has actually happened only once.
Swift gets fuel from Flying J tankers at their terminals but I ironically their trucks never fuel at flying Js, something to do with incompatible charge accounts. I stop at flying J when I'm jonesing for those huge chocolate chip cookies they have.

I mean, those kinda things will help a girl like her overcome a situation like that.
What? What did she say?
Puppies are cute and rainbows are nice.
YES! I totally believe her!!!
ps - don't look into her eyes....
