Rhode Island is pretty much one big "hometown" really.

I realize that I promised pictures quite a long time ago. But there have been a couple of bumps in the road, and I wanted to ensure that this deal WAS in fact going down before I really made too big of a deal about it. But I now have an appointment to close next Thursday afternoon, July 9th. So I think it is fair to say that yes... I will soon be a homeowner.

As to why I am purchasing a two-family home (and incidentally, by consequence of that I am NOT eligible for the juicy $8000 tax credit being offered this year... gah!), the answer is simple. My mother has multiple sclerosis. She needs general help, someone to keep an eye on her, and a break on her living expenses. I can provide all of that and yet still keep my privacy and sanity by purchasing this two-family house in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Which, ironically enough, is the town I mostly grew up in (went to high school, et cetera).

Of course, it'll need things. I have no idea how I'll find the money for a stove, fridge, and washer & dryer. Let alone a lawnmower. Oh yeah... and it'll need a new roof pretty soon as well. But all of those problems will be mine at least. That's kinda cool. Pictures below...

First floor pictures (I'll be living on this level because it's larger):

Second floor pictures. Despite my mother's condition, she's more comfortable being on the second floor. Which is fine with me... except that we will need to get her one of those stair-lift things.

These are all "stock" pictures from the MLS listing. I will take some of my own after the closing.

Finally closed on this house today.

I'll probably start moving over the weekend.
