Rhode Island is pretty much one big "hometown" really.

Still drudging my way through season 4 of "Miami Vice". It's painful, because the show had clearly jumped the shark by this point. But I love the first say... 2.5 or so seasons with a passion that I feel compelled to finish out the series.

Today is a good example of the wasted cycling potential that I could take advantage of. I made a delivery this morning at 8am. Before I sent in my empty call, I told them I had an ankle injury that I'd been trying to work through since Monday but that it was just getting more aggravated by continued use and that I needed to go home for a few days. No problem. They have a load to Boston but it isn't ready to be picked up until 6pm. Ordinarily I never have that big of a time gap between loads, but they were changing things around to accommodate my request to go home. So there's like a hundred miles in between stops and I have lots of time to kill.

So... granted, my current ankle injury prevents me from riding anyhow. I'm just saying that opportunities do occasionally present themselves, DESPITE the fact that I really run hard when I'm out here on the road. If I get to ride the bike 2-3 times a week I'd consider that a huge success.

My ankle actually shows swelling today, which is a relief believe it or not. When I first felt the pain I didn't SEE anything wrong. Which was odd. At least swelling is a fairly sure sign that this is just an injury and not some kind of other nefarious condition.

So the place I'm delivering to on Friday morning is somewhere I've been before. Pretty much right in Boston. Like only a couple miles outside of downtown proper. The last time I was there I got slightly lost, and then some moron ran into the side of my truck. The police report was later mysteriously "disappeared" and we (my company) learned that the kid's mother was a state employee. Very fishy indeed, since the accident was determined to be 100% HIS fault. But I digress... hopefully I wont get lost again. I like Boston, but its certainly one of the more confusing cities to navigate in a semi.

Then hopefully a couple-few days to rest my ankle and hope it heals. With some luck, I'll be able to sneak in the two-hour round trip to my best friend Andre's house to reclaim my Gary Fisher mountain bike hanging in his basement. Not sure what condition it'll be in since I haven't even set eyes on it for years.

It's difficult sleeping when you have body pains. I woke up at 3am this morning because my ankle was throbbing. Took a couple tylenol but I never managed to get back to sleep again. *yawn*

Just had a hollywood shower however. It may not be environmentally correct these days, but to hell with that. I need the relaxation it provides. A massage would be even better but those seem to be in short supply lately.

a massage sounds lovely doesn't it. hope you get a chance for plenty of rest and relaxation on your break.
