Rhode Island is pretty much one big "hometown" really.

The stretch of highway between Pecos, TX and El Paso, TX is a pretty nice one. While the scenery isn't exactly diverse, it's interesting enough to look at. Rock hills and mesas, dried up riverbeds, a few very old and abandoned buildings that look like they should be in a spaghetti western. I'm sure there is much, much more of that if I continue west through New Mexico and Arizona, but the chances of that are fairly slim. I don't really see that as being too likely for me. I'll update in a couple hours once I find out however. For the time being, I am just hoping for a quick unload and reload. The worst part about this job by far is waiting around all friggin' day for slow shippers and receivers.

So yesterday I discovered that there are in fact TWO Flying J truck stops in El Paso. This is good because it's my preferred stop. But I was thinking I'd have to go elsewhere (and be subjected to fast food) because the only J was at exit 0 and thus 30 miles PAST where I need to go for my delivery. Well, it looks to me like they took an old TA or Petro and converted it to a Flying J. Fine by me. I bought 145 gallons of diesel and got to use their Idle Aire system. That's a great external heating, air-conditioning, power, TV, phone, internet system that hooks into your truck's window and allows you to NOT keep your truck running. I can actually sleep quite decently without a truck next to me running all night. Or even worse... starting and shutting down 20 times a night (some trucks automatically do this and its very annoying).

Anyhow... I'm in Mountain time zone. Only bummer about that is that I lose two hours on the return trip east. Ouch.
