Day one of the new job is tomorrow.

The new job is the old job, just a year later. Ironic in some ways. Of course, I've lost all of my gained seniority. On the upside, I can continue contributing to my 401k immediately instead of waiting the ordinary 1-year qualification time.

Hope I get a decent truck and not a piece of shit.

Hope they...

Ok so here's how it all played out, abridged version.

One dude at that Teamster job liked me a lot and was defiitely in my corner. The other dude (who isn't even a company employer but an outside consultant) has a problem with me. He's been an asshole throughout the entire process.

The guy on my side has been out due to a death in...

Long and potentially boring to read. Mostly to help myself sort it all out. Just a forewarning...

I have a really difficult decision to make about my immediate and possibly long-term future. I'm going to be taking a new job soon. In fact, as soon as Monday. The trouble is, I am not yet sure which of the TWO jobs I've been hired for I...

So.

Might become a Teamster. Never had a union affiliation before since MOST common carriers are not union based at all. I've never actually been a big fan of unions because my train of thought has generally been if a company takes care of their employees properly then it wouldn't even be needed.

Having said that, the possibility does offer me some very interesting and...

I think the pension systems are fucking up all over the place. The new pension system in Sweden is RETARDED and everyone hates it. I wish you good luck with this thingy. ARRR!!!
trilobitten:
that's because once people started retiring, companies realized that, shit, pensions are really fucking expensive and they can't really afford them. oops.

i've not heard that about teamsters getting pensions. i like to think someone would have mentioned it to me. i think they have their own savings plan that you can sign up for, but i'm pretty sure it's a 401k type of deal.

Yeah, still got that pain in the neck although it is improving. I'm really surprised it's lasting so long honestly. If I had a few extra bucks in my pocket I would have looked into seeing a massage therapist. Just wasn't a good time for it. Bah.

Watching my cat chase her tail. That, and run back and forth with that wild-eyed look cats get....

I'm sorry about your mom, it's scary to see stuff like that happening.. and it does. Hope the neck pain will be gone soon.
severus:
Yeah, that IS fun. But I can't do it in the city.

My neck hurts.

Trying some tiger balm, disposable heating pad, hot showers. The latter feels the best but I can't exactly stand under the shower head forever.

Nothing else too interesting going on today.
figmentation:
miao!! miao!! miao!!
feel better
severus:
I'm sorry about your neck baby, I hate neck and back pain it's.. ughh. Try and stretch and all that shit, moving helps more than sitting still. Showers rules of course.. hope it's better now.

I don't really LIVE anywhere, as some of you may know. Yeah, I'm from Providence. Lived in Connecticut a decade too. But I travel around the country. It is the nature of my occupation... but I do actually enjoy being mobile in this way. Has some disadvantages of course, especially on the ole social life. I've been divorced for years and could count my dates...

THere are definately certain things that one cannot part with...I cannot bring myself to throw out certain articles of clothing, or the memorabilia from childhood...it's just too precious and cool! But spring cleaning definately makes one feel better...almost like a minimalist...minus the minimal?

To walk in the 8" heals takes a little practice, and slow movements...no running, and no drinking...I would break my foot if I drank in those babys! (woot woot! new tattoo AND shoes tomorrow)

Here's a question. Or perhaps something of an observation that came up when I was talking to my mother. A lot of folks (including myself) frequently see a movie and are THEN motivated to read the book that said movie was based upon. Of course, it doesn't always happen that way... but I can think of many examples of this in my own life. The...

I usually read the books first, and most of the time the movies then dissappoint me.

Movies are usually such a letdown compared to books.

Books > Movies

I got green beans as my side dish and unsweetened ice tea when I had a sandwich from Boston Market for lunch.

It's a baby step perhaps. But hey, I haven't had McD's / Wendy's / Hardee's for several months now. Go me. smile
severus:
Go you! That's great! Can't be easy to drive around and try to find something that's not junk.
