Question for y'all: If a roommate steals a beer (a precious and expensive imported beer) even after you tell him 'no, you can't have one', and in return you throw a jar of peanut butter (because it was on hand) at him, are you in the wrong?

Btw, it was an almost empty jar so it was light and not going to really hurt unless you drill someone with it.
