I am a PMSing nightmare today . . . I thought looking at naked chicks might make me feel better. . .



It does.

Yesterday I spent a few hours making wooden beads for my jewlery. I first started making my own wooden beads last summer when a friend of mine gave me a bunch of scrap wood left over from her dad's projects. It's lots of fun making the beads. It allows me to have "one-of-a-kind" elements to my work. I've already used most of the beads I made in that first batch, so it was time to make some more!

I had my "photographer" (i.e. my girlfriend) along for the day and she took some pictures of me workin'.

First, I saw the pieces of wood into smaller "bead" sized pieces:



Then, with the small piece I grind away the rough edges, rounding the piece into the shape I desire:



Next, I drill as many holes as I like into the semi-finished piece. Sometime I'll drill just one hole, sometimes four, it all depends on what I hope the finished piece will be used for:

Lastly, the semi-finished product:



Later today, or mayve tomorrow I will sand off any rough parts I may have overlooked and then wax the pieces to give them an ever-so-slightly glossy look. No splinters I tell you!!!

So that's a partial workday for me. . .

afterwards I went and saw Smokin' Aces. I thought I was gonna puke during a couple of the scenes. One word: gruesome.
