I keep stopping to look at things and take pictures, but I got out of Sac at about six and now I'm in Garberville. Sitting on a sidewalk getting hooked up wirlessly. How very modern of me.
The stars are out up here, as opposed to the valley.
It's always a litle sad to check into a motel by yourself, but it beats sleeping in the ditch by yourself.
Tomorrow I'll go all the way to Arcata and check around, see who's still alive.
The first thing you notice on the way out of Sac is the Coast Range looming on the horizon. Then before long you're in the mountains. I saw the elk in Cache Creek. Only a couple of them but there they were. Got to Clear Lake at sunset and watched Mt. Konocti drop into darkness.
Stopped in Willits for a burger. They dressed it up quite a bit with fresh greens and so on so I guess it was worth the ten bucks.
I made it this far and decided that was far enough.
