and the sun rises at the left,
falling on the right.

At night, driving, dark humps
by the road; live oaks and towns
built outside the light.

Still not convinced, debating
politics with a wildflower,
with crows in flight.

Beyond sundown,
beyond timber,
mostly out of sight.
