I've seen eagles, antelope, gunfire and the inside of a casino in the past 24 hours.
Nothing has changed outwardly. Things are calm at my apartment.
I drove through snow flurries on the summit this morning, ending up in a 70 degree valley by seven pm.
I'm a little stunned and wornout from all the traveling, all the variety of things I've seen.
I have...

This vacation has turned out to be more of a pilgirmage to places of my past.At the same time I have been considering exactly what comes next. Some of the people I've seen assume I intend to come back here. That's madness. I'll do nothing of the kind.
Today, I head east, for the mountains.
for visual information, check my picture folders.
(I just saw...

the sea rocks looked like slumped buffalo stampeding up the coast. It was rainy, a slow light rain that I could walk in without really getting wet.
I decided to stay in Arcata today, the result of being in love with this room. So i went out to the beach north of town and found a pocketful of agates.
Imagine me comically avoiding the surge...

HI-just getting a chance to back read a few of your journals.

One of my longest friendships and best lives in Arcata. I almost moved there with him once. I know the feel of the place from 17 years ago and a little how it is now. And I know the feel of the woods, though we have no redwood here, we do have logging. Makes me think, too.

Sometimes - thinking of your Eureka journal- it is good to go back to places. Some very good things often get forgotten along the way.

I'm not in love, but it's at least a crush. Her name is Sheila. She's a motel room.

the love for an inanimate object can never be broken.

This is how it's been today:
Woke up in a small town in the mountains.
Looked out at the ridges, watched the vultures turn on the updrafts, and the ravens stand as monitors on snags in the park.
There is a paucity of things in this land lately. It's all been overdone.

Got to Eureka, walked it. There's new construction there, along with yuppies and...

I keep stopping to look at things and take pictures, but I got out of Sac at about six and now I'm in Garberville. Sitting on a sidewalk getting hooked up wirlessly. How very modern of me.
The stars are out up here, as opposed to the valley.
It's always a litle sad to check into a motel by yourself, but it beats sleeping in...

Very nice...I love photography but I haven't had a chance to really pursuit it...I would love to travel around taking pics of the beautiful and the not so beautiful...

I live in Reno if you are ever near here and want to set up a photo session... smile

I think I would like staying in a motel by myself. I've actually been thinking of taking a vacation all by myself. Possibly to Las Vegas.

"the phenomena of nature are more splendid than the actual events of nature."
Gertrude Stein.
Know what I mean?

I had never seen Waiting For Godot before last sunday.
I don't think it was a very great production, but it was fair.
I have to admit I fell asleep toward the end.
Probably owing to smoking weed beforehand, then having a steak and egg lunch...

Sometimes I become scattered and fractious. For instance, deciding whether to go over and buy a pound of coffee, or rent a car and drive to Seattle. Which is the better idea?
At any given time, either one, obviously. Timing is everything.
The best things about the newspaper class is the amount of joking around that happens there. The people are mostly pretty smart and...

I think driving is always the better idea. It's like being alone in a bathroom: perfect atmosphere for meditation and being alone with oneself. Yesterday my boyfriend and I almost broke up. I went out for gas and cigarettes, then just drove around for awhile, listening to Fiona Apple sing "Across the Universe" really loud while my cigarette hung out the window, just thinking thoughts, with nothing to stop me. I wonder how many lives aimless driving has saved. Though I did slit my wrists at a red light once. Sometimes traffic is just an inconvenience.

Today is page design day. It's actually the best reason I have for not being out there somewhere. It's a good skill to have.
so I hang around and do my page every week.
But there's no paper next week so this is my chance to go.
I think I'm going to rent a car. Trains are fun but they kind of limit your mobility,...

I need to quit going to the Cavern.
In fact I might take a trip this weekend and leave all the conflicted people I know around here to stew among themselves.
You may remember the talkative girl I see down there sometimes. The one with the cat.
Tonight, she wrote me a poem on a napkin. Not a good poems, mind you, but a poem....

Yeah, but the problem is that it is hard for me to tear something to shreds when it's not really BAD, I just can't stand the style. You know, like ripping Shakespeare to shreds because you just don't like iambic pentameter.

Ok. bad example. But you know what I mean. Music is so subjective. Someone can be a great musician and just not get me going, or annoy the shit out of me. For example, I hate Radiohead. Everybody else in the goddamn world seems to think they're brilliant. It makes me want to stab myself. But that's obviously my opinion, not because they're actually bad. Whereas poets are quite often, in fact, terrible. It's why I no longer write poetry. wink
