So I've been running this after school program for almost a month now. A kid comes in, homeless, addicted to meth, and trying like hell to get off it. This kid is at the after school program because our youth shelter was recently closed down because we couldn't fund it. The kid is 18 technically an adult, and can't go to the local shelters because people who do meth and try to encourage the kid to do meth while the kid is trying to kick the habid are there. The meth community seem to know eachother well. The kid was recently kidnapped and raped because the meth head thought the kid was going to narc on them. However the kid got away, I gave the kid some new clothes and the kid is currently trying to enroll back in High School to graduate.
The sad part about this whole story is the fact that the kid speaks of this kidnap and rape like it's an every day part of life, the kid is not bothered by this one bit because life has sucked that bad for this kid.
Even worse than that is all I can do for the kid is listen to their story, I can't let them come to my house cause they're a meth head and if you know anything about meth heads you can't do anything to help them until they help themselves.

and that story...god. I see a lot of that around here. Poor thing, I really hope things go better for him. hope he really cares about finishing school and getting himself into a positive enviornment. The meth problem where I am is reeeally bad, too.
