so i've played the new catheters lp ONE time and here is what i think:
- i think brian used jules casablancas mic or sang his vocals through a telephone.
- it sounds like the band has been listening to a lot if Division of Laura Lee (music) and the Hives (vocals).
- while the songs change musically from track to track, brian seems to sing/scream the same thing throughout the whole record with the exception of the last 20 seconds on the last song.
- i like it overall, but i am a really big fan of the band. it lags at times, espcially in the middle, but it has some good moments.
- will it gain them any new fans? no.
- my grade after one listen: C+
- what i think critics will give it: C- or D+
