OK kids, here goes my first attempt at exorcizing my inner demons, baring my soul, asking the important questions, searching for the darkest truths or just making corny jokes. I'll be waiting (oh so impatiently) for the cheers, love, accolades and oh so much more to come flowing to my little corner of SG Land and light it up like christmas.
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT.
Well, this is my first journal post anywhere, ever, so I think I'll use this opportunity to introduce myself a bit more than just what my profile says.
I am an actual Austin Native, I was born here and plan to stay here, this is HOME. I tried moving away once, but it was just WRONG, so I came home again. Probably the biggest part of my life has been dedicated to the "scene" here, although I am nobody's idea of a "scenester". I have been involved in a few bands (who in Austin hasn't?), done some back up vocals for other bands, have put on or helped put on many many shows, done more than my share of flyering (although that was much reduced when the "LIVE MUSIC CAPITOL OF THE WORLD" decided that it was a punishable offense to post flyers in public spaces, what the fuck were they thinking?), I've given or found places for touring bands to sleep, and I'm now getting back on the horse and have a new band that will be playing it's first show(s) towards the end of this very month. We play in the vein of early eighties hardcore punk, back when those two words weren't at opposite ends of the spectrum. No metal, no pop, no frills. If that sounds interesting to anyone, drop me a note for more info. I actually take a lot of pride in how many years I've been involved in this thing of ours. My other interests are reading (mostly history, crime, and insane books like pretty much anything from Palahniuk or Welsh), collecting records and other artifacts of punk and hardcore, collecting tattoos and tattoo related stuff, drawing (on a sidenote related to both drawing and tattooing, I have been waiting for a loooong time for a particular artist to move here as he has promised to set me up with the elusive tattoo apprenticeship I've been looking for, but if anyone has any advice on getting set up with an apprenticeship through someone else here, please let me know as I have lost much faith in this guy ever making it here), and many other things.
As should be obvious, I'm pretty new here and don't know exactly how to go about meeting people. I'm not sure if it's considered odd to just ask someone you've never spoken with to be your friend, for example. I would like to make an open offer to anyone who stumbles across this page to ask to be added to my friends list if you think we have ANYTHING in common.
I think that should be enough for now, but if you have any questions or comments, PLEASE feel free to leave them here. Oh, and 10 points to anyone who caught the mafia reference on this journal entry, just leave me a note and I will add the points to your scorecard.

You'd probably recognize me, I've been around at shows for a while. Not so much recently, but you know how that goes.
