i went LP shopping and picked up a few goodies, as well as place some soon-to-be goodies on order. i got low & the dirty three: in the fishtank sessions and cat power: moon pix. coming soon, mum: finally we are no one, magnetic fields: i, pinback: blue screen life, magnetic fields: (single) i don't believe you. wink
there is something about playing records that just becomes so much more intimate than any other format. not just the physical contact of placing a needle in a groove or flipping it. which, by the way, is a lost concept. the whole idea of flipping an album set precedent with the concept of ordering songs by sides. see, side one track one is a song that has hit potential, but is not popular. side one track two is a hit that is already a single and getting radio play or whatever. side two track one is a hit, as well. and the last song is the sappy closer or the hard rocking goodbye. remember when you would listen to tapes and have to fast forward all the way to the middle to hear a hit song? that's because this arrangement didn't translate well to tapes. but with cds it worked. even better, so that it was one continuous motion and not a split performance, if you will. the song accesability of albums made them like analog versions of compact discs, what with being able to go to any desired song. but with compact discs, the amazing artwork of album covers gave way to some kind of artsy cardboard thingamadoo that makes it hard to get my cd's out and sometimes gets them all scratched up (the new mum, gsybe, and stereolab are all guilty of this!). i'd much rather gaze upon the fold out live after death, thriller, or paul's botique. anyway, yeah, albums. they're great.
my dog is shedding soooo much that he's all sheddy mcshedderson, the sherif of fuzztown. it's a ghost town for pets in my apt. with boo! the cat as the lone bank robber and toby the dog as the lone custodian of justice. so they square up at high noon with fuzzball tumbleweed blowing past them and collecting in the dark corners of my home, making perfect nests for dust jack rabbits (these are really big dust bunnies). yup. that's how it is in my home.
well, i gotta go. i have to put some milk in a dish out on the front porch and see if nicci will come back. i can't figure out where that girl's gotten to!?!?! tongue

you are the nicest ~ i was looking fwd to it too! that is the sweetest thing - a cd! wow. i hate being a flake. again, so sorry.

the dust has settled now, but it involves a will, a warehouse, and loooong standing family animosity. i truly don't understand cruelty and am always surprised by betrayal ... i should be better used to it by now, but i am not.

ah, well, its just biology.

edited to add: i was rejected by earthlink! blackeyed
