when our grandchildren's grandchildren are huddled around their grandchildren sitting in a rocking chair throne amongst a crescent of youth sitting akimbo, pajama clad, telling tales of yore, what will become of my legacy? as their breath billows steam from their chapped and taught lips, like the matter of the words spoken actually gave weight to the air that carried them to the eardrums of the person listening, the name johnnyfive will roll with that billowed breath into the night air leaving only the impression of the words alone. johnny five. it means nothing and stands for just as much. like a reed in the wind. i keep thinking about the old crooners that you hear in old folks homes and it sounds so...i dunno...old. but i wonder when our generation starts to gain occupancy to these death motels if the standard of music will change. will i ever see an old man die with van halen blasting from headphones? will someone claim that "jello biafra is the man" on their deathbed? will someone please tell me who the best singer for black flag was before they die? but even before i finish typing that i remember a thread on the sg boards about songs you would die to. sheesh. our generation is too ready to die. or at least to ready to pretend that they're sad and miserable enough to choose a quick death over the onus of living another horrible day. so yes, i guess by the time my tired ass sits in one of those fancy automatic beds with bedsores sprinkled on my wrinkled body like craters on the moon, i'll find myself saying, " i think this is it nurse lulu belle, gimme that picture and put on the cure: disentergration track two, repeat". and then my eyelids, looking purple when stretched over my yellow and red-veined eyeballs, slip down letting me fall into the deep sleep that i've feared since as long as i can remember. but then i can't remember anymore now can i? that's the beauty of it. the romance of desperation. the lure of lonliness. it's something i love to hate and hate to love. but looking back, i can't help but feel regret. like i missed out on saturday morning cartoons as a kid (yeah, i use this reference a lot), like i slept through it all.
my add is kicking in so a quick change of topic....new music. casino vs. japan track nine is super cool. simian: we are your friends is rocking my fucking world,so much that i want to kick every member of the band in the balls they're so good. i've said it once, but i'll say it again, the new air album is great. and even thought i wouldn't peg myself as a fan of this band, i gotta reccomend: galactic - ruckus. it's produced by dan the automator of deltron 3030, dr.octogon, and handsomeboy modeling school fame. again track nine is jammin'. there is something about track nine on albums that i love. does anyone else find that to be true? the rule of nines. arg. anyway, this entry is getting as flacid as brude campbell's hard-on in "bubba ho-tep"; which fucking rocked! i saw it today and it was great. it reminded me of "six string samurai" pace wise, with exaggerated exposition that remained tolerable due to extreme minor characters and silly, comical, yet somehow cool effects. the only thing was .... it was actually pretty tense and gritty when it came to growing old and dying. to the point of sitting on the fence of lamenting or joking. stark, i might even say, both in content and cinematography. almost a dogma 95 effect in the bedridden scenes and then a milange of cheap horror flick homages (evil dead included) for the confrontations with the mummy and the finale. all in all it was good. i'd buy it on dvd. but then again, i'm a dvd whore.
does anyone know a good joke?
