i read at CERN's website that they've pinpointed the beginning of the occurance of "dark energy" in our universe, which has since been depleting our universe of the energy it needs to sustain itself. hence, the many theories of the universe having a limited lifespan or "collapsing".
then i thought of the "his dark materials" trilogy by phillip pullman and my stomach almost snapped back against my spine! holy shit! he was right, kinda.
very weird.
now, if only i had a subtle knife...

I usually only say retard around my friends, but I'm afraid I'll slip sometime. I was in one of my grad seminar classes the other day and my friend was making a presentation about outlying Mayan settlements in Belize and instead of calling them low-ranking he called them "small people." So I blurted out, "midgets!" Oops! I had been up most of the night before working on a paper, but still.

I like the idea of villages full of Mayan midgets in Belize though.
