last night was a good night for townies. 3 great local bands: Utah!, Proof, & my personal favorite indie trio, Goner. followed by a gregarian late night that tapered into a lovely saturday morning. i love this time of year. from halloween until january, life seems like a connect-the-dots of parties.
the only pitfall to the evening was this gweneth paltrowy chick that started shadowing me around a few art galeries and then to the show. i'm not a gweneth paltrow dude. i'm more of a jeneane garafalo (sp?) kinda guy. so there was no physcial attraction. not to mention she had this snooty look, as there was an invisible terd right beneath her nose. and she barely talked and seemed impatient. and she dressed gaudy.
did i mention that i wasn't into her?
i finished middlesex. good good good book. very good. very book. very good book. sit boo boo sit. good book.
seriously, i loved it. it was the great american immigrant story meets sexual devience in the 70's melodrama. the narrative reminded me of "confederacy of dunces" and the myriadal characters are nicely developed. kudos to you mr. eugenides!

I understand where you are coming from about Lost in Translation. We all see things in different perspectives, so you probably saw things that I didn't, as I probably saw things that you didn't. I enjoyed it, cause I've been in other countries to include an Asian one and felt really alone. So I could relate in some ways. But Scarlett Johansson was super sexy in that movie! But I thought she was cute in Ghost World as well. I love her lips and her belly.
