i think this story is really funny and it really happened.
a friend and i were sitting in my basement apartment and were gazing at the abundance of moths attracted to my flourescent lights. they fluttered around like dirty cotton balls and perched on anything that glowed. it reminded me of something that had happened earlier that day...
i was driving to work, late and tired. i came to the stoplight before the street i always parked on, white oak. as i sat, idle and useless at the stoplight, i noticed a bug crawling on the interior of my windshield. not just a bug, but a moth-like roach with a chitin exoskeleton that looked like a centurian ready for battle.
at this point i should emphasize my fear of insects. i feel as if they poke my pores full of egg sacs when they crawl methodically on my skin with their numerous protuberances. so i hate them. i really, really hate them.
and this bug is crawling on my window so i think i can make it to a parking space before it gets to me, but then it starts to speed up with the wind current coming in through my half cracked window and i feign. i look once again at the window and the mutant is gone, only to sigh, looking over my shoulder like an instinct, and notice the bulging eyes of the vermit staring right at me. i swerve the car and pull on to white oak and i pull the emergency brake as i jump out of the car and slap myself silly trying to kill the moth-roach.
so, cut back to the beginning where i'm telling this same story to my friend. i get to the climax where the bug is crawling up my sleeve and a moth lands on my glasses, making me fall to the ground screaming of fright and adding and extra "umpf" to my story. it was as if it had came even more true as i told it. fuckig bugs.
we laughed until our stomachs hurt.
