it's amazing to see how cheap dvd's are now. i remember when they first came out, i worked at a video store and we paid nearly fifty bucks wholesale. now most are twenty bucks and they have a lot of shit on them, some good, some worthless. so now that they are marketed "reasonably" priced, they sell like crazy. even mongoloid chains like best buy find themselves selling out of major titles like shit through a short dog every tuesday. and that's another thing, no one really gave a shit when a movie came out on vhs, but when certain dvd's are coming out, the collectors line up like lemmings, myself included. so now people are buying dvds just because they're cheap. shit, some of them are cheaper than seeing a movie at a theater. but i mean really, who want's to own a widescreen copy of senseless, even if it has an audio commentary by david spade. does anyone even like david spade anymore? (what was that simpsons' quote about it being so sad that david spade is without chris farley?) and fuck the twilight zone dvds for not being in chronological order (same goes to the first couple of south park dvds and married with children). david lynch doesn't put chapters on his dvds so that the viewer is forced to watch the feature from beginning to end. cool or pretentious? i think i dig it, but i also have a short attention span and chapter selection has spoiled me. how can i think so much about dvds. i should go sacrifice it to the media gods right now in a sacrificial fire on an altar of sacrifice as a means to show that i care.
