Left my job last week. My boss was driving me crazy because I was running behind on these cables I was modifying which I couldnt help because I suck with a soldering iron. I also had this important government dude breathing fire down my neck because I did not drop my work on the cables to get him the shit he needed. Since I was planning on going over to Iraq next month (civillian contractor this time, not with the military) I went ahead and left.
Well some friends and I had basically gotten the ok from our reserve unit to do our Oct. drill this month so we could do this month long job in Iraq but that shit got fucked last weekend at drill. They fed us some bullshit and said we were not allowed to go, that our commanding general said no reservists are to go over there unless they are activated and with a unit. We know this is bullshit though because one of our friends from the Birmingham unit has been approved to go over there for this job. So we're all pissed now because this was a killer ass job. All we were going to do was go over there for a month and act as guardian angels for convoys and make 15k in doing so. Oh well, fuck it.
So now I have to get a new job. I'm thinking about going to this bartending school to become a bartender. I don't know if that's a good idea though since I may be tempted to get drunk on the job. Another option I'm thinking about is switching from the reserves to active duty in the coast guard. One of the enlisted fields they offer that's of interest to me is an intelligence/law enforcement related job. Switching over to the active duty side can also get me more money from the GI bill. I need to make a decision soon before I have to start living off my savings.
In other news I got trashed last night. I had taken a few loretabs (sp?) hydrocodone and antibiotics yesterday for my throat (docs think I got mono or something). Well after a few hours I thought the the pain pills were out of my system and so I started drinking. I only drank a six pack of corona but I felt like I had just had a case. Well I'm going to go and try to find something constructive to do.
