This week I am mostly listening to...Jem.

I'm a bit worried about admitting to it - I thought she would be a bit Dido-ish, but one or two of the songs are actually ok.

Still waiting for Amazon to get my Steve Wynn album in...

I ordered Napoleon Dynamite off of Amazon... and they sent me a bootleg! It wasnt even a Z seller! Losers...
vixen:
Geez... my set? I haven't even gone pink yet... sigh. I guess it's just not meant to be!

ive not heard any of jem's music. what type of genre is it?
soulpower:
hmm well pop does stand for popular music. in the old days (ha i sound old! ) the best rock bands were called pop. the beatles for example. not really my cup of tea but they have influenced today's rock.

what would you call jem then?

I heard today of a child who wanted to design an Easter hat with a bunny nailed to a cross.

He didn't quite get the gist of what Easter is supposed to be about, but he was so close!
vixen:
whoa...
vixen:
Nah... me? Famous? Pshhh...

Its Easter!
Today we celebrate the day little baby Jesus hatched out of his egg by eating lots of chocolate.

Praise the Lord!

Isn't science great? I really have no formal education in it, but I still love it and can generally get the jist of the more complex ideas. My brother has some degree in physics...oh the things he knows! biggrin

So your field genomes? That's bad ass.

I think I hate flying. Not that its the actual flight itself that bothers me, but the attitudes of the people running the airline.

Theres never any info when you want it, and never anyone around to give it!
I had to run the entire length of atlanta airport to make a connecting flight because of them!

Damn them all! mad

heresy2007:
science benifits from the reality that any scientific evidence no matter how sound, can be disproven if an experiment is created that introduces conflicting evidence to the said report.

the scientific method is set up in such a way as to allow anything, including theories, and laws of nature, to be challenged using the method. This allows of science to test, and manage itself. Once all confounding variables are taken into consideration, and most of the "challenges" to a hypothesis are provin to be false it may then become a theory.

A theory is not a fact. A theory is a hypothesis that has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Something that is accepted as the closest thing to fact within science. A "known" truth.

But this does not make it a fact. It can still be disproven at anytime by a scientist with enough data, and a sound experiment. Since it "can" get disproven, does not mean that it "will", but it adds wait to the freedom of science to evolve with knowledge. Nothing is concrete, and nothing is dogmatic. Everything can change.
heresy2007:
I realise that, and I realise that there are sittuation where things become Natural Law. Natural law is "accepted" fact. But it still does not remove, or replace the fact that it can STILL be disproven.

That is the beauty of science man, it tests itself, and once the tests are complete, it states it conclussion. The closest thing to fact human's are capable of.

And as for Laws, Evolution has not been accepted as a natural law. and it most likely never will because of all the stupid zealots in the world.

I also concede that this is a debate on symantics. And that we will argue ourselves no-where with this. But I attest that my statements are almost word for word the same as those of some of the most respected scientists in the history of biology.

I feel the need to update this for some reason....I just don't have anything interesting to say at the moment.

I saw that you were curious about branding and that you were a student (what do you study?) and that your a member of the self mut. group (which i might like to join) so i thought that we might have something in common. (i like the simpsons too, and my fav book is 1984) so what do you think? surreal
rainwolfkin:
nope, not me. although i almost did my BA in molecular genetics--after many years of struggling and trying to decide what to do, i have recently started again and am now doing a BA in the history of art (asia and africa--not western).
