From the point in life in which we realize we are not yet adults we see adults in a different light than oursevles. The media, our partents, our teachers, etc all portray adults as mature people who realize the consequences to their actions. They may or may not live for the now, but they are always ready for the future.

Then, one day, your driving down the road in your early twenties and you have a epiphany. "I am an adult. Wait, am I? Is this the most refined I might become?" Its startling. What has thus far been an age of looking ahead is quickly transformed into a moment of looking back and realizing you were at times worshiping, and at times shunning, a false identity. A statue upon a strong foundation, with chisled features...that doesn't exist. You may have realized since a kid that some adults were not what evolution inteded, but you had always thought there was more. We all have the feeling that we might one day grow up to be an 'adult' when in reality, we simply, hopefuly, grow up to be ourselves.

Oh yeah, when Joe, Kristyn and I were having lunch today, Kristyn was shocked to hear I didn't know about the "make yoru own dildo" kit. Hmmm.

Actually, I get very agitated because when I don't like someone I can think "well, maybe the reason I don't like them is not their fault, they may be angry at me because they have other problems and don't know how to deal with it" and so on, and in this way I feel I am behaving like an adult. Other people seem to struggle with not hating me for childish reasons, and then I get annoyed because they should act like a grown-up.

I am still very amused by pop-up books and ice lollies, though.

There you go, I read it.

we all have adult like qualities (well, most of us). qualities that have come about form a combination of various life experiances./ Perhaps these qualities are the ones that the impressionable people pick up onthe most (ie kids) and give us our idea of what it is to be an adult.

Like any other trait its a push-pull kinda deal. Most would say I am old for my age, an old soul, and have been for many years...that being said I still giggle like a kid when at disney, and laugh when I see someone fall.

Just becuase a facade is up doesn't mean there isnt a wall with similar qualities right behind it.

PS - Thank you. :-)
