the tide is coming. with obama being sworn in tuesday there will be a definite change in the air.
the adoring masses will welcome its new president and unite in chorus with the words 'first black president' filling corridors in every househould in america and everybody will become temporarily insane or close to it.

the legendary and great Martin Luther King foresaw this event with tremendous intuition. he was a man for the people, a statesman. A True Hero. it's an absolute shame there are no ground-shakers around as per his example anymore. He could move mountains with his speeches but the one thing, perhaps the most important thing that stood him out from the rest was that he had a heart. And he wanted to infect politics with it. fast forward to the present and it seems his 'dream' has come true and arguably people turned out to vote not only with their minds but with their hearts as well.

this is it. the stuff folk singers write about and many others only dream of (myself included).
they will be singing all week. their praises echoing loudly into the smog-filled air, a ripple effect creating waves of high emotion resulting in temporary gestures of goodwill.

oh yes back-patting and hugs will dominate the first few months of 2009.

whether this new administration will actually effect change in the world or not is another matter.
and one that will no doubt be closely monitored by the media in the immediate future, not to mention the political big wigs with the real power and 'interests' at stake.

living on the other side of the planet however, i have not been immensely swept up in the euphoria.

i know, bask and revel in this moment of history, i know and put aside negativity for now. i know i know. but one can't help NOT being too envious of the job he has inherited from mr axis of evil himself george w.

i have read in some forums and heard the word on the street that he is not as progressive as he appears and may bring some bad policies to the table. appearances can be deceiving but they are sometimes on the money. with the war looming in gaza, the outbreak of cholera in africa and the continuous threat of terrorist acts he has a major task ahead of him to say the least. not only that he has to live up to the expectations of his voters. good luck to him.

But on a serious note, I cannot wait until he is sworn in!
