Ok this is a past entry i ripped off my other online journal at the lomography site
couldn't be bothered writing about it again
i only remembered to do this now
but i went to see billy corgan at the enmore last year
and these were my thoughts att*

excerpt:

Billy corgan and the week of july 25-31

This week began probably like every other - on a low. And ended on a miserable low too. You know when there is an event you've been hanging out for cos it's to see somebody you haven't seen perform before or it's a show you thought would be this incredible spectacle - it could be anything you get excited about cos you think it might, i mean *just might* bring a feeling of joy(?) in an otherwise joyless life well I experienced that this past week and it was to say the least an anti-climactic musical trip to see billy corgan on his solo outings in this sad city i've called home for 20 years ie. sydney, oz.
Okay so I went to the concert at the enmore theatre on wednesday and it was pretty much what i expected it would be - a show filled with new material off his new album maybe i should have bought it & given it a spin first? of course i went in there unprepared needless to say i knew none of the songs or what the tone of the show would be ...actually it was not all bad it was basically electronica almost straight out of the eighties so i guess i liked it but not as much as i would have... the light show behind them was awesome.
It was not until the end of a concert peppered with banter and his usual self-deprecatory remarks about fame and the state of rocknroll that he pulled out the big surprises. First was his tribute to acdc with 'Long Way to The Top' begining the encore and then the announcement that there would be a gig the following day which would be a first come first serve kind of deal since it was their day off so to speak. They were to play two shows originally but got cancelled when not enough tix were sold (i'm guessing). So upon hearing this my heart jumped with anticipation cos i just knew that this 'acoustic' set he said he'd play would contain virtually pumpkins stuff i was hoping to see live just once in my stupid life.
While lining up for three hours freezing cold is something i knew i would have to do for a chance to see a special performance by a one-time hero of mine i was getting impatient and by the time they let us go in which was an hour n half after the advertised time(!) i was feeling disappointed. Disappointed that my one-time hero let his fans stand out in the cold for so long or maybe it wasn't his fault i dunno for sure but i never got to hear any of the songs i lined up for i left halfway.
The worse thing about it is that i skipped my first lesson in french to line up to see the gig.
I watched tarnation on friday night which kind of made up for the gig it was frightening probably the most scary and best film i've seen in a while. the filmmaker jonathan caouette documented his life through his troubled teens using hi-8 or an old 80's camera and added special effects and music to make a surreal cinematic piece of history. I was left gobsmacked and in awe during the whole movie just watching how somebody so far had certain characteristics/flaws in their personality/self similar to my own.
