OK, here's my update on the current political situation.
I can't stand listen to conservatives bitch about how Obama is turning this country into a socialist nation. that is such bullshit. what i know of his economic stimulus package is that a) people collecting unemployment are getting $25 more each week in their paychecks. big deal. it makes things a little easier for some people but all in all it's not a huge change.
and b) government funds are being allocated to put people to work repairing roads, bridges, railways, and other parts of our infrastructure. of all the things the government does, rebuilding this country's crumbling infrastructure is a positive thing. seriously, what do we pay taxes for if the federal government isn't going to spend money on fixing the highway systems? the state governments will still have to hire private contractors to do the jobs, and peole will be put to work. i have yet to see the government in this country take over privately owned businesses. it's a long shot from socialism and despite the fact that conservatives love to play "pretend we're cowboys," the conservatives are all a bunch of big bitchy whiners. i don't even know why yhey are whining anymore. i get sick of listening to that. again and again it's the same thing over and over. they really have no new ideas to offer.
do i think Obama is a miracle worker? am i 100% supportive and uncritical of him? no. but he is doing the right thing to get working families (the majority of americans) through this recession.
