Lightning apparently caught the famous "King Of Kings" statue at Monroe's Solid Rock Church on fire.
Monroe police dispatchers told News 5 a bolt of lightning struck the Kings of Kings statue at the Solid Rock Church, catching it on fire.
Dozens of viewers called and e-mailed to report that they also saw the statue ablaze on Monday night.
News 5 photographers were not allowed on to the church property. However, several fire companies were called to the scene.
A photo submitted by a News 5 viewer via the Facebook website appeared to show what remained of the statue. The photo evidence suggested the statue was razed to the ground.
The well-known statue is often called "touchdown Jesus" or "butter Jesus" and is a popular destination for people who wish to take their picture with the statue.
