so there's no :just middle of the road, it's all good, medium, buddah smiley: but that's the vibe this AM.
Literally woke to a "bang!!" outside that shook the house. It wasn't an explosion, but definitely bigger your average city noise of something getting dropped. I think it was an extra large dumpter getting deposited. The construction is never-ending. It's like a mini-Berlin.
My hand says "7 of Clubs" on it. I forgot, but I wrote it as I was walking on R St. last night and saw a folded playing card on the ground, face up. I thought it'd have some significance later. Don't know what it was.
The Holly show was great last night save that a) I got there thinking it was a main stage show and it was backstage, already in progress, and it was hot and packed. I didn't let that get to me. I decided to chop of my hair before hand w/a #2, and felt a tug at the back of my head at one point. My friend chad: You missed a spot, but it looks pretty punk. I laughed and felt a major breakthrough that this little 1/2" nug of hair wasn't going to put a damper on this amazing feeling watching Holly. She just makes you smile in this Nancy Sinatra/Patsy Cline/Johnny Cash/60's "Girl Group"/Garage blues sorta way.
Everytime I see her I manage to lock eyes with her for about a verse and it's hott. If you're not familiar and your a fan of the good sound, the lost love, and bourbon-infused sexy garage soul she's definitely worth a download. (I just said that..yeah...)
I MET MY FIRST SG MEMBER in person last night. chiquita was selling posters for Tuffy last night at the show. Wow, weird. Very nice lady. Hope to meet some more of you someday. I like this place.
I got drunk and didn't mean to. But the way my inards are treating me, I thought I'll just go easy and have something not Bourbon/Whiskey...so rum and coke, sorority style. Well...it was drunk by my standards, which is probably not so bad.
Made it to the going away party for the 2 Trans Ams. Walked in to a video of their 3rd show ever. Man, everyone looked so young. Big laughs all around. We've all come really far. We've all got a long way to go. Nice talks with a group of people that makes me know, despite a lot of shit talk in the past and recently in the local rag that the "scene" has some good eggs. The room was cozy with 'em.
Slept the good sleep, and despite waking to a bang, at least it wasn't the phone. And that's giving me a little buddah smile today.

This is on my mind, and I'm pretty politically outspoken, but not here. I feel like I get it out on the regular, so no need to infest the old journal about ME with my seething wrath againsth the Bush Admin., but 3 things in the news today I just feel the need to say outside my normal coffee clatch.
First, this $87billion is a fucking joke. I was against the war. Now I'm against a shitty cleanup job. Basically I see through all this harranging about "national security" and "terrorism" w/r/t spending billions of dollars to "fight" a concept. It's turning into a really stupid gang war. Hey, we kill them, they wanna kill us. My inside sources (I have them) tell me about the attitude toward Americans in places like Afghanistan are not ones of malace toward US Citizens, but a REAL hatred of our government. If anything, they feel sorry we're so blind. After all, those people have lived under dicatatorships. They don't see our situation as being any different.
So $87bill to support a job poorly done is definitely sending the wrong message to our kids: Go into a hostile situation w/o a plan, do a bad job, ask for more money.
Number two goes along those lines. We want the Iraqi's to pay 1/2 the $20bill in construction costs. At first I'm like, "Why not have them pay for it all, they've got the oil." Then I realized 1) they didn't destroy their country's infrastucture, we did. and 2) they DON'T OWN THE OIL WE DO!
I need to follow this one a little more. But initially, this stinks the big stink.
ok 3, cause this is already wasting space: there's one Lt. General Boykin going around in his uniform to church meetings talking shit on Islam, saying they worship idols, and "our god is better than theirs" kinda shit. the article As far as separation of church and state goes this is really taking it too far. This sucks. $87bill to fight a war on terrorism while our military officials, whose salaries our tax dollars fund, IS SAYING SHIT THAT MIGHT JUST MAKE SOMEONE HATE THE USA. Ain't that a bitch?

So kiddies, I leave you on a happy note: it's a really really beautiful fall day out there, it's friday (though that means nothing to me), and you go have a fucking rad day, because I said so and I love you.
