two beautiful days to end a few weeks of touring the heartland, the South, the South east and that other country called Florida.

Really, a clear blue sky after a really overcast and wet-cold day in Champaign. The coldest I've ever been in my life hasn't been in Chicago or Boston or Iceland, but in like Ireland where the air is moist and the cold creeps into your bones. I literally woke from shivering all through the night. THAT's how cold it was in Champaign. But St. Louis was ok. It was a weird way to end the tour, with an audience that seemed to be composed of people who walked off the streets, but they played well, it sounded pretty fine on my end, and, well, it was ok.

I have a cold. there's been one floating around the tour the entire time, so it's just appropriate that I get in now. It could be worse, it's just a runny nose and a tickly throat. No aches or anything, so that's all good. Drove like 90mph on Dayquil from there to here today. I was loving it. So focused and feeling good. No road rage despite 2 coffees and 2 Mt. Dew's...lovely day.

Mellow in Chicago, though it's cold, for sure...but the good kind. I think I may move here for a spell. I need to get outta DC finally and this may be the first stop of many. Got some good plans that, if I decide to make them come to life, could be VERY intersting as far as the near future of Jonathan is concerned. Step one happens tomorrow before I fly back to DC. Actually, that's step 2, I just found a cheap place to live w/a fucking studio IN IT...though it's way the fuck out there, and I don't even know this town, it seems far. But it's a start. Tomorrow will be step two and that should be fine. Both go hand-in-hand.

Yesterday in St. Louis I saw a dead bird on the ground that took me by surprise. It was a really pretty bird, white w/black squared/spots and some red I think. A whole dead bird, a little roughed up, but not flattened. I'm used to dead pidgeons in DC, usually that get fucked up by a car. This was a good looking bird and it seemed to take me away for a second. Funny: what makes a butterfly better than a moth?

I saw a totally blue bird today while standing on the deck of this very odd-bird-of-an-Econo Lodge. It had these rad, red railings that you might see on some odd bridge in a Japanese tea garden or something. Then there were these sloping, siding-covered extentions off the balcony, like a roof, but starting at my foot-level. Pretty odd and cool looking motel. By morning it's odd with it's pool and space around it. I wonder about people that run hotels, when there are little quirky things about them. How cool would it be to run your own hotel and design it yourself. People are definitely out there doing it.

I have a lot to say to you not about the tour or anything I've been talking about, but I'll save it for when I get home. I have a lot to say.

"Everybody's having fun but me" was a line that came to mind as I was driving yesterday and totally tired, wanting coffee and being a grumpy brat to myself.

Tonight, I'm having fun. I have one crush in Chicago, and she and her ex- who is one of my best friends here all hung out for a spell. Truly a great way to wrap up some time away from home. Drank 5 Makers. Had a dreamy blast.

Tomorrow back to DC, who knows....????? shocked

Albini is probably the best known Percolator proponent, yeah. I probably would never have heard of them if not for too many years listening to Shellac.
