All right, I knew I would be fine with owning a MacBook. I'd used them plenty of times in the distant past, back when Apple dominated the education landscape. Actually, for all I know, they still do. But out in the world of corporate employment, PCs rule the kingdom.

Can someone tell me why? I mean, really, why are so many of us convinced of the superiority of Windows? I'll admit it, for a while I was one of those who laughed at the thought of using an Apple. After all, Macs are for children. They're toys and widgets made for entertainment and teaching simple technology use. They're not useful for anything practical in the real world, and they can't even be used as a gaming platform.

Well, I may still agree with that last part. Game developers still haven't caught on to the fact that Macs would be awesome platforms to play on, and so don't create Mac versions of new games until eight months to a year after releasing the PC version, if at all. But as for the rest, I have been pleasently surprised to find these things untrue.

From the moment I got my new baby home, I've been plugged in and online more than ever before. The interface OSX provides is smooth and simple. Sure I've had to get used to a few things. Some functions have different names. Some things are in different places. But by and large I've been able to figure everything out just by pointing, clicking, and taking the time to read the menus. I've been surfing the web a whole lot more, chatting with friends a whole lot more, streaming music and video left and right, and generally pixellising my eyes out. And having a laptop is so much more fun than I thought it would be. So many have places have WiFi these days (McDonalds!?!), I can basically sit online anywhere. I'm on a lot at home enjoying our high speed DSL, but sometimes I get a little cabin fever, so I can head out and still enjoy all the fun times this technological marvel brings me.

Actually I'm typing this from work right now. Again.

And I can do all this without worrying about viruses, adware, spyware, myware yourware hisware and thingieware.

All right, so perhaps I have taken a sip from Apples bowl of Kool-Aid. Maybe a big gulp really. But I must say, it's fun on this end of the pool. Come on over and check it out, no one's peeing in the water over here.

Thanks for stopping by and being a friend. Silverwolf signing off.

Well, for me, i usually move in the summers because it interferes less with school. In this particular case, I finished a masters program in Vancouverin April, and I'm about to start a PhD program in New Orleans at the end of August. Summer happens to fall between the school years.
