Silent Sidewalk

Rest your heels
Here
In the shade
Of this silent sidewalk.
You could run
Rather you walk
Near the body chalk
Of this silent sidewalk.
Single tear will fall
That the cracks will cradle
Near the wall
Of this silent sidewalk.
And
Sweet girl,
The concrete miles never end
In this shade you can defend
Whispers when you say when
Of this silent sidewalk.
You watch your feet
Shuffle the somber streets
Hanging like alley sheets
Of this silent sidewalk.
So rest each heel
So that they may heal
And I may feel
Heartache
Of this silent sidewalk.
